14-inch – 8-Strand Natural Woven Braided Sisal Rope Buffing Wheel for Polishing Curved and Recessed Metal Stainless Steel

Its loose hemp rope design makes it more suitable for grinding irregular and deep concave surfaces, allowing it to reach specific areas on the workpiece to be ground.
Made from oil-free virgin sisal, it provides gentle and even cutting action that won’t scratch copper, aluminum, or thin stainless steel workpieces. The 14-inch standard size is suitable for both flat and curved hardware; its elastic braided structure allows it to reach deep into crevices. This medium-coarse polishing pad is suitable for both kitchenware and locks.

Product Overview

Braided sisal cord buffs are selected when a conventional flat sisal wheel is too rigid for a shaped workpiece. The individual cords flex around accessible curves, edges and profiles, helping the working face maintain contact across changing geometry. The natural sisal fiber provides a cutting action when paired with a suitable polishing compound, making this wheel appropriate for the pre-polishing stage after abrasive preparation and before cotton or cloth finishing.

The 14-inch diameter is intended for compatible industrial bench, pedestal, semi-automatic or automatic polishing equipment. Typical sample-validation opportunities include stainless steel cookware contours, cutlery, handles, locks, faucets, formed hardware and other profiled metal components. It is not a universal wheel for every flat, narrow or deep feature: access depends on the wheel width, cord diameter, machine guard and part geometry.

For a stable production result, define the wheel treatment, relative hardness, center configuration, compound, speed and pressure as one process. Softer metals, thin sections, plated parts and critical cosmetic surfaces should be tested before bulk use because a sisal wheel is designed to cut and can alter detail or surface geometry when the process is too aggressive.

Why Choose a Braided Sisal Buffing Wheel?

  • Contour-following construction. Braided cords flex across accessible curves, profiles and recesses more readily than a rigid flat sisal wheel.
  • Defined pre-polishing role. Provides cutting action for blending the prepared surface before the finer cotton or cloth polishing stage.
  • 8-strand braid option. Offers a heavier cord construction than lighter two-strand formats when production confirms the exact strand specification and target stiffness.
  • Industrial 14-inch format. Provides a large working circumference for compatible production equipment and suitably sized metal parts.
  • Process-customizable supply. Treatment, width, center and packaging options can be discussed against the buyer’s machine and approved sample [CONFIRM available options].
  • B2B repeat-order control. An approved specification or retained sample can align future orders on construction, fit, finish result and packaging.

Process position: A typical sequence is abrasive preparation -> braided sisal cutting/pre-polishing -> finer sisal or cotton/cloth polishing -> final coloring, as required by the target finish. The exact number of stages depends on the incoming surface and approved production result.

Not the right tool for: Heavy stock removal, sharp burr removal, very narrow internal features, blind holes, miniature parts, uncontrolled plated surfaces or final mirror coloring by itself. Choose a tool shaped for the feature and the required finish stage.

Choose Compound by Metal and Process Stage

Pair the wheel with a cutting or pre-polishing compound selected for the metal, incoming scratch pattern and required next stage. Stainless steel generally requires a compound system designed for stainless cutting or pre-polishing; brass, copper and aluminum need their own validated grades. Do not select a compound solely by bar color because color codes are not standardized across suppliers.

A treated or impregnated cord can behave differently from an untreated natural cord, so the wheel treatment and compound must be approved together. Use dedicated, labeled wheels for different compounds and, where cross-contamination affects the finish, separate wheels by metal family. Move to a clean cotton or cloth wheel and a finer compound for the final-luster stage.

How to Use a 14-Inch Sisal Polishing Wheel

  • Remove sharp burrs, deep defects and the earlier abrasive scratch pattern to the approved starting condition.
  • Confirm that the machine guard, spindle/center interface, motor power and speed range match the approved 14-inch wheel specification.
  • Inspect the wheel and center for damage, contamination or looseness, then mount and secure it according to the machine and wheel instructions.
  • Run the wheel within the approved speed range and apply a small, controlled amount of the selected cutting or pre-polishing compound.
  • Present one securely controlled workpiece to the safe working area, using light-to-moderate pressure and continuous movement across the accessible contour.
  • Check heat, edge retention, surface uniformity and access regularly. Stop if the part snatches, the wheel deforms abnormally or the result becomes too aggressive.
  • Clean the workpiece between stages. Change to a dedicated finer sisal, cotton or cloth wheel when the approved pre-polished surface is achieved.

Safety: Use the required machine guards, eye and face protection, dust extraction and site PPE. Keep loose clothing, jewelry, hair and other snag hazards away from rotating equipment. Follow the machine, wheel and compound instructions and never exceed the lowest rated speed in the system.

Braided Sisal Cord vs Other Buffing Wheels

Wheel typeConstruction behaviorBest suited to Typical stage
Braided sisal cord buffMost flexible sisal format; individual cords follow changing geometryAccessible contours, profiles and shaped partsCutting / pre-polishing
Flat or conventional sisal wheelFirmer, more stable working face Broad flat or gently curved surfaces requiring stronger controlled cutCutting / pre-polishing
Airway / bias sisal wheelVentilated folded construction; specification-dependent flexibilityProduction cutting on broad surfaces and light contoursCutting / pre-polishing
Cotton or cloth buffSofter face with lower cut, depending on stitching and treatmentLater polishing, coloring and final lusterPolishing / finishing

Selection note: Choose construction before size: first match the wheel type to the part geometry and finish stage, then confirm diameter, width, center and speed against the machine. A 14-inch cord buff is not automatically suitable for every recess simply because the cords are flexible.

Frequently Asked Questions

A sisal polishing wheel is used for cutting and pre-polishing metal after abrasive preparation and before finer cotton or cloth stages. This braided cord version is intended for accessible contours and shaped parts.

Braided sisal cords flex individually and follow changing geometry more readily. A flat sisal wheel has a firmer, more stable face and is often selected for broad flat or gently curved areas.

It should describe the construction of each braided cord, but the exact manufacturing definition must be confirmed by Weike. Publish the braid specification, cord diameter and treatment rather than treating ‘8-strand’ as a general performance guarantee.

It can adapt to accessible recesses and profiles better than a rigid flat wheel, but access still depends on wheel width, cord size, guard and part geometry. It will not enter every narrow or deep feature.

It can be used as a cutting or pre-polishing wheel for validated stainless steel parts with the appropriate compound and machine settings. Test the actual alloy, gauge, geometry and required finish before bulk production.

These metals can be processed only with a suitable wheel treatment, compound and pressure. Softer metals may cut quickly or lose detail, so sample testing is required.

No universal no-scratch guarantee is appropriate. Sisal is chosen for cutting action; excessive pressure, unsuitable compound, contamination or an incorrect prior scratch pattern can create an unacceptable surface.

Choose a cutting or pre-polishing compound by metal and target finish, not by color alone. Approve the wheel treatment and compound as a system, then use a dedicated wheel for that compound.

It is mainly positioned for cutting and pre-polishing. Most mirror-finish processes require one or more finer stages using a clean cotton or cloth wheel and an appropriate finishing compound.

Confirm the machine is designed for a 14-inch wheel, then match the center/hex, wheel width, guard clearance, spindle, motor power and speed range. Send dimensions and photos when requesting a sample.

The product appearance alone cannot prove the treatment. Weike should confirm whether this SKU is natural/untreated, oil-free, chemically strengthened, impregnated or available in multiple controlled versions.

Cord construction can improve airflow, but temperature depends on speed, pressure, compound, contact time and workpiece. Monitor heat and do not promise a no-cooling process without application testing.

Samples, wholesale quantities and OEM construction or packaging can be discussed. Confirm the required specification, MOQ, tooling, packaging and lead time with the sales team.
